It's just so watchable, which I suppose is a sign of a very well made film that generates a great atmosphere. I love the early scenes with Superman's back story and his early years on Earth. Top stuff.

I have the novel "The Making of Superman: The Movie" and that's a fascinating read. The production seemed to go on forever and a day!

I have yet to see "The Donner Cut" of "Superman II", hopefully I can get that soon. I do have an extended US TV version of "II" which features a lot of additional scenes put in to pad the running time out (like US TV did with "Halloween", "Star Trek the Motion Picture" etc) UDerekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06185160360769364876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3373639471570210741.post-43456562044482171362008-06-16T12:20:00.000-07:002008-06-16T12:20:00.000-07:00as a fan of that other iconic 'superman' figure of...as a fan of that other iconic 'superman' figure of moddern times, jesus christ,i'm surprised you don't make any mention of the overtly religious aspects of the superman mythos... too many to go into detail here, but i will add that i am a massive superman fan,and i regard superman the movie as one of the top five films in my list,a true modern classic.
i recently bought the donner cut of superman 2 and thought it the poor cousin to the original version, with a few exceptions-the shot of general zod gleefully mowing down the secret service men in the white house, for example.jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14717810091895475835noreply@blogger.com
